I make mistakes...

"I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best."

Something I wanted to share...

I just wanted to share something I wrote back in the spring. After putting up with a lot of disappointing, self centred and cruel people in my life, I realised something about myself and decided to write a "letter" to those who had hurt me. I wanted to post it here so if you have also been disappointed, hurt or left behind by a person or several people, remember to just keep going! Here it is...
"To all of you who thought I would fail, that I wouldn't go anywhere, make anything of myself. To those of you who tried to poison me with your negativity, your hateful words. To those of you who said I wasn't pretty enough, smart enough, tall enough, talented enough, strong enough or even good enough. To all of you who abandoned me when I needed you most, walked away when I needed you by my side. I just want to thank you. Your words pushed me, made me stronger. Look at me now. Your words have filled me not with hate and self loathing but a will, a purpose and power. Thanks to your negativity I will never quit. All I can do from here is descend up. I can forgive all of your actions but I will never forget and this I once again thank you for."

Pride weekend always a blast!

Wow, can't get out of bed! Done myself in for sure this time!!! All in all, I would say this weekend was a great success. Went shopping with Chris with our street style then headed over to the 519 Pride opening party. Then the next night celebrated Pride with my good friend Andy. Dinner and drinks with Jess and Carina the following night, no Pride celebrations though. But Sunday night! Well, that certainly was the "grand finale"! I wore the craziest outfit I've ever concocted before in my life. Covered in sparkles with a black tutu and even a sparkly bra I picked up from New York. Also the shoot went amazingly, great people to work with and was a lot of fun. Cannot wait to see the pictures! I will now leave you with some of the highlights from this weekend...

Alexander McQueen?

So was out and about today with fellow stylist, Chris, after getting over my little moment of not-feeling-so-great. Traveled amongst the Mirvish Village till we hit the actual Village working the streets of Toronto like it was our catwalk. Chris perfected his outfit with a sexual bag from Zara while I paired my vintage outfit with, of course, a vintage Chanel bag.
Also, after watching MOD TV's review of Sarah Burton's collection for Alexander McQueen Fall 2011, I started to wonder, is she really emboding the spirit of Alexander McQueen? Don't get me wrong her designs are fantastic, but Alexander was more than just pretty outfits, things in fur, asymmetrical shapes and "black and white". There was history, he made a statement. I also know it must be so hard to follow in the footsteps of such a thought provoking, influential man. Thoughts?

Kiss me, and you will see how important I am...

"But everybody has exactly the same smiling frightened face, with the look that says: 'I'm important. If you only get to know me, you will see how important I am. Look into my eyes. Kiss me, and you will see how important I am.'
I too want to be important."
~ Sylvia Plath, Cambridge Notes (February 1956).

Bits and pieces...

I'm so excited for my first styling shoot Sunday that I just wanted to share with you all a sneak peak of what you can expect from it. I'm also in the midst of creating a very large, very heavy chain necklace especially for this. Can't wait to see it all unfold!!! Thoughts?!

On that note, I'll leave you with my current obsession. Noah and the Whale's "My Door is Always Open" music video.

Mmm... Vintage!

So I lied. I'm making another entry for today. I just wanted to share with you the lovely Cat's amazing online vintage store. This was my second time working with her and I can say without a doubt, always such a pleasure and fun times! This was also my second time working with the ever talented Jesse and first time meeting and working with the beautiful Dalia. Here's a few pictures from the shoot but please, please, please go and check out her collection. You will not be dissapointed vintage lovers! http://www.etsy.com/shop/aiseirigh

When at first you don't succeed...

Just keep going!!! Which is exactly what I am doing. Bought some more equipment to keep me motivated with my jewelry making and I think I'm more inspired this time.
I will stick with my whole "grunge meets feminine" idea. I was even thinking of having more grunge and a subtle touch of feminine.
Well today is a short post. I'll leave you now with two dresses from the Victoria Beckham line that I MUST have! Au revoir!

I do my little turn on the catwalk...

I've realised I haven't added any modeling pictures on here for a long time. I thought I might give you a slight taste of what I've been up to. These photos were taken by Farzam, makeup, hair and styling by Jem Lopez and certain items made by Coco Becky Couture.

Sparkle, sparkle!

So, I've kind of hit a stand still with my jewelry creating. I've only made a select few items like the two bracelets in the picture above (photography by Chris Chan and makeup by Mandie Wolf). I am in the process of making a pair of dangling earrings but I don't feel totally inspired. I just can't think what draws me or makes me buy a certain item of jewelry. Below is a necklace I made not to long ago. I incorporated the idea of femininity, a touch of vintage with a little bit of industrial grunge.
The "industrial grunge" part was only added by these sweet little add ons I found in a jewelry store. It's hard to tell but the have transparent, Victorian pictures of a woman's face on them. The metal casing around the glass picture is so plain but that's exactly what I needed.

What inspires you to purchase a piece of jewelry? (P.S. Please ignore the unhung painting next to my necklace in the second picture!)

I REALLY DO love you Phillip Morris!!!

After watching the brilliant movie I Love You Phillip Morris, (which I really recommend you all see) I wanted to learn more about the man, Steven Russell, himself. I came across this article where they discussed the movie, the man and his 144 year prison sentence. My question is, other than the fact he embarrassed the Texas prison system does he really deserve his sentence? No one was ever hurt (physically) or killed during his escapes, do you think his sentence was still fair? http://www.npr.org/2010/12/03/131783406/con-king-steven-russell-he-still-loves-phillip-morris

Move over Gok Wan!!!

Since I am still in the process of creating my styling profile I thought I would play "proud Mama" and give you beauties a sneak peek of my friend, Chris' first styling job! *Gush*
Chris Boyes first began in the world of makeup artistry but finally realised fashion was more his passion.
Today he worked with photographer Rodrigo Castro, makeup artist Angela and model Brandon Barnswell. For his first look he went for a sleek, sophisticated suit combo adding a dash of casual without it being overdone. I absolutely love the slight touch of colour on the shirt.
For the second look we see here a great combination of rock and funk. I absolutely love the fact he added a very Alexander McQueenesque scarf (I'm I obsessing much on McQueen here?!) and the fact they left the ear ring in. The jean jacket is the cherry on the cake!
I love how everything is oh so simple yet so perfectly put together. There was definitely a lot of thought put into his first project. I asked Chris what was the inspiration for the shoot and he said, "Masculine meets edge." That is very apparent from what I can see so far. Love it girl!!! Can't wait to see the final results!

A Feeling You Just Can't Shake...

"Isn't it funny how depression works? You can be surrounded by friends and family that love you dearly, yet still feel like the most selcuded and loneliest individual in the world. It's a feeling you just can't shake."

Okay this is just getting ridiculous...

I need to update this thing!!!
It's been completely ignored!!! How do I remind myself?! I'll think about it then all of a sudden... Poof! I forget for months and months and months!
Well, in the mean time let me tell you about the Alexander McQueen exhibit at the MET...
Never have I been so inspired in my life and may have just fully realised I chose the wrong thing to study at college.
It makes me sad that the world has been denied not only a great talent but someone who created art and fashion to make a statement, to change the world, to educate us on history, culture and life. Not someone who did it for fame and money which our world is so obsessed with these days. Working the MMVA after party last night for LG reminded me of this. So many people scrambling for the limelight, some so delusional they thought they were already in it when they've done nothing great or are great themselves. They treated anyone else they considered lower than them like trash. They had no respect for anyone. My impression is whenever you treat another human being with no respect, you're not a "great" person, no matter if you've had a hit single around the world, a video on Much Music or are currently sleeping with another "great" person. Being a dick does not make you superior.
Alexander McQueen was a great man and after all these years it's still sad to see we've lost such a talented, brilliant human being. Especially looking at what our world is becoming.
If you're at all in New York I strongly recommend seeing "Savage Beauty" at the MET.

Sh*t happens...

So... I lied! Totally have not been updating. Not been feeling myself lately. Might be the weather, but I feel as if I'm getting a little disheartened about where my life is heading (again). Just need to keep myself distracted, I have somebody in my life now I need to care for. Two new somebodies actually! Lolita and Edgar (Poe) Ellingham. Lolita is my beautiful, calico cat and Edgar is my black, independant, dwarf rabbit, both babies. That's enough to keep me distracted for a while.

Will post more eventually!

Peace, love and distractions!
